Golf Camp

Join Gustavus Head Coach Scott Moe (2004 Men's & 2008, 2010 Women's Division III National Golf Coach of the Year), Gustavus Assistant Coaches Jordan Hawkinson and Randy Stuckey, other local golf professionals and current Gustie Golfers for the 2014 Gustavus Golf Camp.

In addition to the instructors mentioned above, campers will be accompanied and taught by members of the Gustavus Adolphus College teams who will be serving as camp counselors throughout the week.

Camp Strategy:

Participants will receive a comprehensive golf experience, focusing on individual skill development. Our instructors will teach the campers numerous aspects of the game, including, but not limited to:

• Proper set up (grip, stance and posture)
• Short Game
• Correct Swing (take-away, arc, follow through)
• Putting
• Mental Preparation
• Golf course etiquette
• Rules of Golf

*Students will receive video instruction throughout the week and a post-camp evaluation.

In the case of inclement weather, campers are able to continue their training at Gustavus' indoor golf facility, which includes a full-swing golf simulator, indoor putting green, and various teaching aides.

Our Mission

Gustavus Golf Camp provides a safe and positive learning environment for boys and girls (ages 9-18) to improve their golf skills. The Gustavus golf staff is committed to making this week a beneficial and enjoyable experience for all involved.

Registration Information:

Fee: Junior Camps - $495 for overnight campers, $395 for day campers

The overnight fee includes: room, all meals, golf course fees, gift, and mini-golf or bowling. The day camper fee includes all except room & breakfast. See below for available discounts.

Registrations made BEFORE June 1, 2014:
A deposit of $200 per week is required via check, with final payment due upon camp check-in.

Registration AFTER June 1, 2014:
Full payment is due upon enrollment for any camp that has openings. Walk-ins are allowed provided space is available. No camper will be allowed to participate unless all fees have been paid and all health forms submitted in full.

Cancellations:
Full camp credit will be issued to you for any reason if you cancel your Gustavus Golf Camp registration. The credit will be good for two (2) years from issuance and is transferable to immediate family members. Cash refunds will be given only if you have purchased Refund Insurance.

Discounts:

SIBLING - First family member pays full, each additional sibling saves $25. RETURNING CAMPER - Returning campers receive a $25 discount. REFERRAL - Returning campers who refer a new camper receive an additional $25 discount per camper referred. The referred camper must indicate who they were referred by on their registration form. TEAM - Discounts apply to groups of 5 or more. Please call for more information.

The maximum allowed discount is $75.

A confirmation email will be sent following registration. Confirmation packets containing specific camp information will be sent approximately 2 weeks prior to camp.

Security:

All information gathered by the Gustavus Golf Camp will be deemed confidential and will not be sold or given to any third parties.

FAQ:

Are there opportunities to play a round of golf or is it just practice?

There are four opportunities to play at local courses. We play rounds at Le Sueur Country Club, North Links, and Terrace View Golf Club.

Will we compete in a tournament?

There is a tournament on the last day. Awards for tournament play are handed out at end-of-camp party.

When do I get dropped off and picked up?

For resident campers, drop off time is 6:00pm Sunday (June 15 or Jul 20), and pick-up time (Pizza Party) is 12:00pm Thursday (June 19 or Jul 24). Day campers are dropped off every morning at 8:20 and pick up times vary.

Can I pick my roommate?

There is a spot on the registration page for you to list another person you would like to room with. If you do not have one listed, we will pair you up according to gender/age. Rooms to accommodate 2, 3, or 4 campers are available upon request.

Is this camp coed?

Yes, the camp is offered to both boys and girls and there will be counselors from each of the Varsity programs helping throughout the week.

What are the ability levels?

Gustavus Golf Camp caters to all ability levels. Each instructor is able to teach beginners as well as advanced players.

How many kids will be at camp?

Gustavus Golf Camp aims to provide an individualized learning experience in a camp environment. Camper/staff ratio will not exceed 7:1.

What do I need to bring?

Resident campers bring golf clubs, golf balls, rain gear (jacket, pants, umbrella), swimsuit, extra clothes, toiletries, and some extra spending money (approx. $20). Bedding is provided. All campers need collared shirts when playing the golf courses.
