Technology Examples

Technology plays an increasingly important role in our daily lives, and this should be reflected in the classroom. Students need a high level of familiarity with both software and hardware in order to succeed in our society. To aid them with that, and to make use of the multitude of technological enrichments available in the educational world, teachers must be competent with technology. Below are a few examples of my own familiarity with technology. In addition to the Microsoft Office Suite, Inspiration, and HTML programming, I am also competent at programming in Python, and I’m quite comfortable with technology in general.

An enrichment lesson linking functions, intersections, rectangles, area, the distributive property, and other mathematical concepts to the world of computer programming and gaming through the use of a Python program I'm in the process of writing.
A "review day" game for an eighth grade pre-algebra classroom.
A webquest for a Geometry class which challenges students to use the concept of similar triangles, their powers of observation, and some unusual conversions to solve an old-fashioned murder mystery.
An example of an Inspiration thought web which I used to think through the creation of the newsletter below.
A newsletter to parents which explains the importance Mathematics and the Math Standards have both in everyday life and in their childrens' futures.
An online database of books for young adult and elementary readers. (Created during my children's literature course.)

"The whole art of teaching is only the art of awakening the natural curiosity of young minds for the purpose of satisfying it afterwards."

- Anatole France
