Optional Travel Day Excursions

Blarney Castle/Cork City
Galway City and Aran Islands
Dublin

Students will have from the afternoon of Thursday 1/13 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday 1/15 to explore Ireland on their own. Here are three suggested options students may wish to consider:

Blarney Castle and Cork City Visit
Journey to Cork City and ring the famous bells in Shandon Church. The following day, take a short bus ride to Blarney, and visit Blarney Castle to kiss the famous stone. After perusing the sweaters, have tea at the famous Blarney Woolen Mills.

Accomodations at a Cork City youth hostel will be included in the general price of the course. Depending on the method of travel (rail or bus), this excursion is estimated to cost $50-$75, plus food and other personal expenses.
Dublin
Relax in Dublin for two days, digging a bit deeper into the sights and sounds of this bustling city. There are many museums, libraries, plays, films, concerts availble in Dublin during January, some of which are free. Students who remain in Dublin will be provided accomodations as part of the general price of the course. Food and activities during this two-day period will be the responsibility of the individual student.
Galway City and the Rugged West Coast
Journey to Galway City, center of the arts on the rugged West Coast of Ireland. The following day, ferry to the Aran Islands and bicycle to ancient ring forts or, tour the Burren and beautiful Irish coast by motorcoach to see the amzing Cliffs of Moher, Europe's highest cliff.
