J-Term Abroad Cluster:
Conflict, Social Justice, and Ethnic Relations in Ireland January Term 2005 |
||||||
| Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland offer a fascinating opportunity to explore the complex interplay of natonal identity, culture, and conflict. Partitioned since 1921, the continent of Ireland has seen more than its share of religious and ethnic violence, yet both the north and the south of Ireland have produced art, literature, and music acclaimed throughout the world. The format of this J-term provides a unique opportunity to students. Three Gustavus instructors will collaborate to offer three separate, but linked, courses exploring Irish literature, theatre, and education. Each course is open to students from any major. Some activities and readings will be shared across the three courses; other readings and activities will be assigned by course. Click on the links below for additional information.
