GUSTAVUS IMPROVES SEASON RECORD TO 9-1

Since returning from Hawaii the Gustavus men's tennis team has won nine consecutive matches and a Division III national indoor title, the fourth in the last seven years.  Their victories included the University of California-Santa Cruz and Emory University, the two top ranked teams in Division III.

On Saturday, March 1 in the Swanson Center the Gusties beat University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 8-1, who came into the match with an 11-2 season record.  Next they defeated the University of Sioux Falls 8-1.  Two doubles and three singles matches could have gone either way, but Gustavus won four of them.  Finally they kept their MIAC conference  record perfect by defeating third ranked Bethel University 9-0.

On March 8 and 9 Gustavus faces its busiest weekend of the season.  On Saturday the Gusties host Grinnell at 8:30 a.m., University of St. Thomas at 1:30 p.m., and Macalester at 6 p.m. and travel to St. John's University at 3 p.m.  On Sunday the team goes to Des Moines, IA to face Division I power Drake University at 2 p.m.
