The Gustavus Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Paul Hill, will presents its fall concert on Sunday, November 23, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The performance, held in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall, is free and open to the public.

Sunday’s concert opens with a work based on the tunes played by the antenteben flute ensembles of Ghana and rhythms found in traditional Ewe dances. Composer Bob Becker wrote Antenteben as part of his work collecting an extensive repertoire of multi-cultural works for percussion. The ensemble continues with Toccata Without Instruments by Ramon Meyer and Orgel by composer Takayoshi Yoshioka. The performance concludes with John H. Beck’s Andiamo, the Italian word for “hurry” or “move” which best describes the tempo of the finale.

Saturday’s percussion ensemble concert is free and open to the public. The concert begins at 1:30 p.m.
