Introduction to Demonstratives
The Demonstrative adjectives function just like other Hebrew adjectives. The singular forms are translated as "this," while the plural forms are translated as "these." The following paradigm summarizes the declensions of these adjectives:
Attributive Uses: If a demonstrative adjective is attributive, it always follows the noun that it modifies, and the demonstrative agrees in gender, number, and definiteness. If the demonstrative modifies a noun, because a demonstrative adjective is by definition definite, then the noun will also be definite. The followign examples are helpful for these usages:
Predicate uses of demonstrative adjectives: Just as Hebrew can be predicate, the demonstrative adjectives can be predicate. As with the other adjective, a demonstrative predicate adjective will agree in gender and number but not in definiteness.
