REL-256: Israel and Palestine, J-term 2003
2nd presentation
For this project, there will be four groups:
- Group A: Israel's view of the Suez and 6-day War (1956 and 1967)
(Bruce and John Cook)
- Group B: Egypt's view of the Suez and 6-day War (1956 and 1967)
(Jonathan and Jennifer and Jessica)
- Group C: Israel's view of the recent 1987 and 2000 Intifadas
(Emily and Megan)
- Group D: Palestinian's view of the 1987 and 2000 Intifadas
(Sharon and Jeremy)
Your group's goal is to give a biased (though not extremist) account
of each event: What would you be taught about the events if you are a
typical Israeli, Egyptian or Palestinian student? Focus on the events
which led up to the conflicts, the conflict itself, and if and how the
conflict was resolved.
Incorporate the views of other countries ``on your side'' in a conflict
as a way of promoting your biased account. When you do so, it would
be helpful to the class if you could indicate why those countries are
on ``your side'' (even though that may not promote your biased account).
You should use powerpoint in your presentations so that your
presentation is polished and we have a record for the course web page.
