With any set amount of money yo have to take risks to ensure that you stay in the game. The best time to bet is when people are betting small amounts or when there are powerful cards on the table and everyone is checking. It is also easier to bluff if people have to go all in to call you. They would rathr try to stay in for a perfect hand then risk a moderate hand.
