Exercise 13.3 - The Hematopoietic System

Materials
- Prepared slide of bone marrow
- Microscope
Procedure
- Examine the bone marrow slide to identify the erythrocytic
series: proerythroblast, basophilic erythroblast,
polychromatophilic erythroblast, normoblast, reticulocyte and
mature erythrocyte. Draw and label each cell type.
- Draw and label the granulocytic series: myeloblast,
promyelocyte, myelocyte, metamyelocyte, granulocyte with a band-
shaped nucleus, and the mature granulocyte (neutrophil,
eosinophil, basophil).
- Draw and label the megakaryocytic series: megakaryoblast,
megakaryocyte and platelet. 20
