PROPOSED ITINERARY:
Day 1 & 2: on campus knowledge development, presentations and relationship building
Day 3: depart Minneapolis, arrive Lima, overnight in local hotel
Day 4: local charter bus to Chimbote from Lima with local guide/support person
Day 5: At mission; orientation and prep for classes/clinic tomorrow
Day 6 - 10 (Mon. - Fri.): Service work at local sites within the mission
compound in Chimbote.Students will be assisting in developing the summer
school English program and teaching children English or working in an
established medical volunteer program at the mission hospital or hospice.
Discussions in the evening; group dinner out at local restaurant mid-week.
Day 7 (Sat.): arrange bus trip to local mountain hike to scenic view; and visit local park
Day 8 (Sun.): local exploration (boat ride to island to swim); lecture
(history of mission) by mission leaders
Day 9-12 (Mon. -Thurs.): Service work at local sites; evening seminars;
group dinner mid-week (last day for afternoon teen and adult classes is Thursday)
Day 13: provide trip for Chimbote students to local pool or beach for final
class day for youth classes
Day 14: depart Chimbote for Lima; overnight in Lima at local hotel; group dinner
Day 15: depart for Cusco; overnight in local hotel; group dinner and cultural
performance included
Day 16: travel to Cusco to Machu Picchu; overnight in Aguas Calientes. group dinner
Day 17: Aguas Caliente to Cusco; group dinner
Day 18: Exploratin of Cusco; Inca museum and Cathedral
Day 19: Cusco to Lima; tour of Lima with late night / overnight departure to Minneapolis
Day 20: arrive Minneapolis in a.m.
