FTS Quiz 2
Quiz 2 will be given in class on Friday, October 23.
You may use a calculator and one new 3"-by-5" note card with handwritten notes on both sides and your previous quiz's
3"-by-5" note card.
You may not use other notes or texts.
Exam topics
The exam will cover the parts of chapters 1-5, 8-11 of
Elementary Mathematical Models that were emphasized in class
and related material presented in class and lab.
It will emphasize more recent material
- Overview
- Sequences and Difference Equations
- Arithmetic Growth
- Linear Graphs, Functions, and Equations
- Quadratic Growth Models
- Fitting a Line to Data, the least-squares criterion
You will not be tested on the formulas for least-squares
linear regression.
- Geometric Growth, particularly the boxed statements
Geometric sums
- Exponential Functions, particularly the parts reviewed in class
- More on Logarithms (basic logarithm rules)
