QUIZ 1
Monday, March 1
Closed book and notes; calculator okay (and recommended)
There will be a closed-book quiz in class on Monday
focusing on basic skills in describing data sets.
In particular, you should be able to do the following.
- Calculate numerical summaries of data sets, including:
- Five-number summary:
minimum, first quartile, median, third quartile, maximum
- Interquartile range
- Mean and standard deviation
- Correlation and coefficient of determination (r2)
- Least-squares regression line
- Draw graphical summaries of data distributions and relationships,
including:
- Bar graph
- Histogram
- Stemplot
- Boxplot
- Time plot
- Scatter plot
If you do not know how to get your calculator to calculate summary statistics
from data in lists, you should then know by heart the formulas you will need
to calculate these values.
