MCS 321 PROJECT
- You are encouraged to work in teams of two.
- Choose a topic.
This could be a topic covered in one or more sections in
chapters 7-12 of our text.
In a previous year, students chose these topics:
- Fourier analysis--series and integrals
- Steady temperatures
- Laplace transforms
- Fluid flow
- Conformal mapping and harmonic functions
- Your topic report should include solutions of problems
not explicitly worked out in the text, e.g., problems from
Brown and Churchill's problem sections.
- Prepare an oral presentation--about 20 minutes long--to
give to the class. If we have four teams of two people each,
we could schedule all presentations as late as the last two days of class.
Otherwise, we'll have to have some presentations scheduled in the
penultimate week of classes.
- Type an accompanying report, perhaps 5-10 pages long.
Figures and hard-to-type mathematics may be hand-drawn.
- The audience for your report consists of your fellow students.
