MCS 342 Exam 2
- Handed out: Friday, April 15
- Due by the beginning of class, Monday, April 18
- What:
An examination consisting of problems
related to Chapter 10, Hypothesis Testing,
and Chapter 11, Linear Models and Estimation by Least Squares
- Where: Take home.
- How: Open book and notes
TOPICS
- Classical hypothesis tests and confidence intervals
- One or two proportions
- One or two means
- One or two variances
- Least squares
- Simple linear regression
- Matrix formulation of (simple and) multiple regression model
- Least-squares estimation
- Distributional properties of least-squares estimators
- Hypothesis testing and confidence intervals
NOTE
In order to keep the exam to a reasonable length,
and in view of the fact that you have already had a quiz on Chapter 10,
I have focused the problems of the exam on the linear model.
(Inference problems for the linear model use the same distributions
we used in Chapter 10: normal, t, chi-square, and F
distributions.)
