Welcome to the 2013 MAA North Central Section Summer Seminar!

The MAA North Central Section Seminar this year is on the Mathematics of Planet Earth - Conceptual Climate Models.

Brief Overview

Participants in the seminar will meet during July 22-24, 2013 at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN. The focus for the seminar will be the study of mathematical models of the climate of planet earth. The material in the proposed Short Course will be accessible to a broad range of faculty and scholars, whether they are interested in teaching at the high-school, undergraduate or graduate level, or whether they are interested in understanding the basic conceptual models from which research at a variety of levels of model complexity can grow. The seminar will include a mix of lecture and hands-on lab work.

Each topic in this seminar lends itself to classroom use. Participants will be provided with modules designed for core math classes at a variety of levels. The North Central Section and the organizers hope that this seminar will open the door for more mathematicians and educators to become involved in the exciting area of climate mathematics.
