This is the website for the 2009 Ecuador course...if you would like to enroll for a 2011 trip, please be aware that the course may change!

Course Overview

From January 5-31, eighteen Gustavus students joined Dr. Carlin for an adventure of a lifetime: experiencing the cloud forest, the Amazonian rain forest, the Andean highlands, the coastal mangroves and of course the Galapagos Islands.

These students were selected from among 42 applicants for the class, and the resulting students were a nearly perfect 50/50 mixture of two kinds of students:

  • non-Spanish speakers and students with 2 or more years of college Spanish credit
  • Biology majors and non-majors, including Finance, Accounting, Geology and more
  • men and women
  • students with extensive foreign travel experience and students who had never previously left the United States

Photographs

The following are just a select few of the images taken by students and myself during our amazing trip. Many, many more pictures are available in our online 2009 Ecuador Photo Album.
