Realizing the chemistry was just not there, the Chili Peppers fired Dave Navarro and went on to rescue Frusciante from the world of drugs. They then convinced him to rejoin the band. It took another 4 years for a new album, but this time it was worth the wait. With guitarist John Frusciante back in the band, the album became possibly the bands biggest success. It included the top 10 hit single "Scar Tissue" and reached #3 on the charts. Also, it won the grammy for best album in 1999.
