My Story

It's hard to be in love with the ocean when you live in Minnesota, but I could never help it.

My dad took my brother and I snorkeling during a trip to Florida when I was ten, and I was amazed by everything I saw. My brother started feeling unwell, so by dad stayed on the boat with him during our last stop while I explored with the boat's Divemaster. I happened to encounter a massive bull shark passing by, which both terrified and fascinated me. I wanted to get closer.

I got my open water certification with my dad the next year, and since then have returned to Florida, visited the wrecks of the Keys, and most recently been to Cozumel. I am now a certified Rescue Diver with specialties in drift, cave, wreck penetration and nitrox diving, and I have the goal to become a Divemaster this summer.

Water is my element. I grew up on swimming and scuba, and I plan to do both until I can't. I may not be able to afford trips to the tropics often on a college budget, but I am familiar with freshwater diving and will stay sharp until the next opportunity I have for an adventure.
