Welcome to my website!  I hope you find it useful in seeing what I contribute to the Gustavus Adolphus Education Department. This year I am excited to be teaching the Reading in the Content Area (EDU-350) course for secondary majors and Inclusive Classrooms (EDU-389) for all education majors.  I also supervise student teachers at both the elementary and secondary level.  This is a link to my curriculum vitae.

Previous to my teaching at Gustavus I was a special education teacher, a regular education teacher and I also held several administrative positions including an elementary principal, a middle school principal, and a high school principal as well as a director of special education in the public schools.

Currently I also consult in several area schools in school improvement, teacher evaluation and reading.  The study and implementation of the ELA Common Core Standards is my favorite area in which to work.

In my personal life, I am married to Mark Schuck, who teaches and coaches Cross Country and Track and Field at Minnesota State.  We have two daughters, Dr. Angela Schuck, who is a dentist in North Mankato and who is married to Dr. Keith Flack. Our second daughter is Kelly Moeller and she is a physical science teacher in the Academy District in Colorado Springs, CO.  She is married to Jeremy Moeller who works in the Physical Therapy field.  We also raise and show Ponies of America with our daughters' families and the five grandchildren - Olivia, Miles, Katelin, Grace and Aidan.

Please feel free to contact me at jschuck@gac.edu or on my cell phone at 507-340-3073.

I also work with area school districts as a school improvement and reading consultant. The study of and implementation of the English Language Arts Common Core Standards is an area of specialty
