COURSE DESCRIPTION

Are male and female brains different?  What makes one monkey more dominant or more aggressive than his companions?  What signals the metamorphosis from a caterpillar to a butterfly?  How does an animal prepare for the change of seasons?  We will read about humans and animals in research literature with topics such as sexual behavior, parenting behavior, seasonal behaviors, development, aggression and affiliation.  Students will be expected to participate in and lead discussions in this seminar. Experimental research is expected to be a significant component of the course and students will write a substantial paper on a subtopic of their choice.
