Exam 2

  • Date and location: Tuesday, October 9 in Olin 103
  • Time: either 5:00-6:50 p.m., 7:00-8:50 p.m., or by special arrangement
  • Note card: this will be a closed-book test, but you may use one handwritten 1/2 sheet of 8.5x11 paper, both sides allowed
  • Study suggestion: review the assigned homework, practice problems, and problems worked in class; also, see the review exercises below
  • Topics: this test will focus on applications of integration corresponding to what we covered in sections 6.1-6.7 of our text. Specific topics are:
    • 6.1: Area between two curves
    • 6.2: Volumes by slicing. For solids of revolution, using disks and washers
    • 6.3: Volumes of solids of revolution by cylindrical shells
    • 6.4: Length of a plane curve
    • 6.5: Area of a surface of revolution
    • 6.6: Work
    • 6.7: Centers of gravity/mass, and centroids
