WILD 3 , AVALANCHE 2

The Wild defeated the Colorado Avalanche this past Thursday by a score of 3-2. Pavol Demitra recorded his 10th goal of the season, as well as contributing an assist earlier in the game, midway through the second period to give the Wild the lead for good. Goals were also scored by Brian Rolston and Todd Fedoruk. This game moved the Wild to an astonsishing 20-0-0 this season when leading going into the third period. Niklas Backstrom finished the game with 28 saves and improved to 25-0-0 when the team is up going into the third period. The Wild now have a 6 day break from games until Jan 30th where they will the Anaheim Ducks at the Xcel Energy Center.

Marian Gaborik is selected to the NHL All-Star game which is set to commence on Sunday, Jan 27 in Atlanta. Gaborik was last chosen to the All-Star game in 2003 where he went on to win the fastest skater competition. Gaborik was the only player selected from the Wild where he leads in the goals and points categories with 25 and 52 respectively. Gaborik's five goal performance on December 20th will not be overlooked on Sunday and proves that he is a very dangerous man when the puck is near him. Tallying five points in his last five games heading into the All-Star break, Gaborik looks to be a threat in this year's competition.
