Personal Statements:

My name is Josh Seeger, and I am from Albert Lea, MN. I play hockey at Gustavus Adolphus College, and enjoy many athletic activities. Albert Lea is a fairly small conservative town with limited diversity. I am interested in the role race or ethnicity plays in everyday life. I can’t figure out why people can form an opinion about another without ever talking to them. I think racism in America is a problem and we need to work together to fix it.

My name is Matt Ladwig and I am from also from Albert Lea, MN. I am on the track team here at Gustavus, and also enjoy basketball and weight lifting. I listen to all kinds of music but I mostly listen to rap, R&B, and Hip Hop. I have one older brother and two younger sisters.

I chose to take Race Matters because learning about the wide variety of people on earth is something I enjoy. I believe hypocrisy and ignorance are the main factors in most racial divides. I hope to increase my knowledge about these divides and learn more about the roots of these prejudices.
