Current
Position:
Chair, Department of Geography, Gustavus
Adolphus College
Research Interests:
My research explores the intersection of human societies and the natural
environment. I am particularly interested in understanding what makes
communities socially, economically and environmentally sustainable.
Recent projects have examined smart growth urban developments, the reuse
of derelict industrial land, and rural gentrification. I use a combination
of GIS, spatial analysis, and fieldwork in my research and draw upon training
in environmental engineering, ethics, and geography.

Ph.D. Geography, Minnesota, 2000
