Course
Objectives: To more fully understand the atmospheric processes
that are responsible for daily and seasonal weather patterns. Unlike
controlled laboratory experiments the real-time weather outside our window
serves as the laboratory for this class. As a consequence, our observations
will unfortunately not always match our theories but on the positive side
our everyday experiences and classroom learning can reinforce each other.
So, by paying close attention to the changing weather around the globe
this semester and following weather information sources discussed in class,
you will get more out of this course. We conclude the course by considering
the dynamics of global climate change and the ways that human activities
may contribute to climate change.
