APPLIED LINGUISTICS

This course is an introduction to Linguistics conceived as a theoretical discipline, with special attention to Hispanic Linguistics. The course is divided into the following components: (1) the Spanish language from a communicative perspective, (2) synchronic linguistics, which encompasses: (a) phonetics, (b) phonology, (c) morphology, (d) syntax, and (e) semantic, (3) diachronic linguistics: history of the Spanish language, (4) language and social context, (5) language adquisition, (6) conversation analysis and pragmatics. Through these components, students are introduced to the study of Hispanic Linguistics and its relation to other fields and disciplines. Teaching methods include lectures, discussions, group activities, and problem-solving exercises.
