EXTRA CREDIT PROJECT
(Using QuickBooks)
Intermediate Accounting I
Fall 2001
Instructions
This project is intended to give students an individual (not a team) grade raising opportunity.
Not doing this project cannot result in a lower grade.
This is primarily a self-study project.
The software and some learning resources will be provided.
Required:
Make up 40 transactions covering a range of transactions in all account categories. Allow for at least five adjusting entries. End with closing entries.
Starting with journal entries go through the entire accounting process using QuickBooks.
Prepare the four major financial statements.
Submit a nicely bound formal report containing all materials. The report should start with a two page summary of what you did, followed by printouts of the financial statements and the other parts of the accounting process and details of what you did.
Grading Scheme:
Properly completing the project will raise the grade by one increment – as from a B+ to A-.
Electing to do or not to do the project needs to be decided by October 23, 2001.
If the project is elected it must be finished and handed in no later than Tuesday, December 4.
