Philosophical problems arise when language goes on holiday --LW

Peg O'Connor is a founding co-editor of Philosophers on Holiday. The youngest of three, she was forced to ride in the middle of the back seat of the big green Mercury that squired the O'Connor family around town and to Cape Cod, their summer vacation destination. While riding in the middle may not seem a particularly bad fate, riding over the top of the exhaust system left her little bum more than a touch warm. From this backseat vantage, she formulated her first theory of car movement at night. She has yet to gather evidence to support this theory, but a part of her still believes that at night, cars are pulled down the road by the beams of street lights. Trained as a philosopher, Peg has an appointment in the Women's Studies Program at Gustavus Adolphus College. When not teaching classes or attending meetings, Peg can be spotted in the gymnasium, battling the effects of gravity on a 35 year old body. |
