Asian Studies I graduated in 2005 from Carleton College with a Bachlor of Arts degree in Asian Studies. My academic focus within Asian studies was East Asian history. I complete six courses, a total of 36 credits in Asian history. I also took courses in the Sociology/Anthropology, Linguistics, and Media Studies departments related to Asian Studies. I completed my language requirement in Mandarin Chinese, please see my Chinese Site for more information on my experiance with the Chinese language, and my Tianjin Seminar site for information about my study abroad experiance in China. I also took two Japanese language courses. For my Comprehensive Excersize, I wrote a 25 page essay on the topic of The Great Leap Forward and the portrayal of death in historical works. My Comprehensive Excersize was done under the guidance of Proessor Sengjoo Yoon. The project took one year to complete and was presented on and defended in the spring of 2005.
