ANDY BRYAN NAMED TO ALL-DISTRICT FIRST TEAM

Andy Bryan, tennis player from Gustavus, and Tom Hartman, hockey player from St. John's, are the only two male athletes from the MIAC to earn first team, all district recognition by ESPN The Magazine.

St. Paul, Minn. -- The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has selected seven Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) student-athletes to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V At-Large Team. Gustavus' Margaret Dorer and Carleton's Kassandra Wells were named to the women's first team. Gustavus' Andy Bryan and Saint John's Tom Hartman were chosen for the men's first team, while Saint John's Andrew Longbella and Justin Wild and Gustavus' Connor Ziegler were selected to the second team.

Eligible sports for the Academic At-Large Teams are women's bowling, women's crew, men's and women's fencing, women's field hockey, men's and women's golf, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's rifle, men's and women's skiing, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, men's volleyball, men's and women's water polo and men's wrestling.

Men's Academic All-District V Second Team
Saint John's University - Andrew Longbella (Golf, Sr., Chippewa Falls, Wis.)
Saint John's University - Justin Wild (Hockey, Sr., Bloomington, Minn.)
Gustavus Adolphus College - Connor Ziegler (Swimming & Diving, Jr., Sauk Rapids, Minn.)

The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team is part of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program, administered by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Top student-athletes from non-Division I programs in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ontario and Manitoba are eligible for inclusion on the district team. Student-athletes must have a grade-point average above 3.20 (4.0 scale) and have outstanding athletic credentials. College sports information directors in the district vote for the teams. First-team Academic All-District members advance to the Academic All-America ballot, voted on by a committee of CoSIDA members. The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America At-Large team will be announced on June 12 for the men and June 14 for the women.
