I found this technique while perusing the world of ceramics on YouTube last year and really enjoy the result of this.

In the beginning, I found it difficult to create a similar texture as Hsin does in the video. I then realized I had to make the same tools as Hsin did.

Conveniently, Hsin had made a tutorial on how to make one's own trimming tools, click here to watch. Once made, I fell in love with this technique and am still developing my skills.
