• Read sections in appendix A on FUNCTIONS (pages 483-485).

  • Let A = {a,b,c} and let B = {b,c,d,e}. How many functions are there mapping A to B ?

• Finish section 1.1, What is a graph? through page 14.

  • As always, take out a piece of paper and draw a small example of each definition. As with example 1.1.3, whenever possible, compare an example reflecting the formal definition with a drawing.

• You should now be prepared to attack the homework. Try solving some of the problems.
