Pedro Cortés comes from a long family tradition of Spanish Gypsy guitarists.  Cortés began studying with his father, the esteemed flamenco guitarist Agustín Castellón Campos, known as "Sabicas."  Cortés' skill and fame grew quickly, and since his professional touring debut at age 17, he has gained vast international recognition as a soloist and composer.  He has premiered works in the Teatro Albéniz in Madrid and the Joyce Theater in New York.  With the American Institute of Guitar, he has also published two guitar compositions  El dron del faraón and Cruzando el charco.

Jesús Montoya is a Gypsy flamenco singer and composer from Seville, Spain.  His position as artistic director of the Montoya Flamenco Dance and Music Company would soon win him and the company international fame.  Montoya came to the U.S. in 1990.  Although he spoke no English, he quickly gained attention from the media and American audiences by touring with his group of flamenco artists.


Susana di Palma is unparalleled both as a performer and choreographer and is respected and recognized internationally for her innovative flamenco/theatre works. Having spent a lifetime studying all aspects of the art of flamenco in Spain with maestros such as Enrique “El Cojo”, Carmen Mora, Manolete, Manolo Marin, Merche Esmeralda and “new generation” dancer, Rafaela Carrasco, and dancing in “tablaos” in Madrid, festivals throughout Spain, and in dance companies such as La Singla, Rafael de Cordoba and Maria Benitez ’ Estampa Flamenca, her performance and choreographic skills have, at their core, the essence of flamenco tradition.  Although she is an accomplished and critically acclaimed flamenco soloist, her unique contributions to her art form are her provocative theatre/flamenco works that reflect and respond to our contemporary world.

Sachiko Nishiusi is a flamenco teacher and dancer.  A member of the Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre and School, she performs mainly throughout the Minneapolis-St. Paul area at schools, churches, restaurants and other community gatherings.  Nishiusi is also a member of the Amanya Dance Theatre, a contemporary dance theater that combines Indian Odissi style with yoga and Indian martial arts to create issue-based dance works focusing on social justice and women’s lives.
