A trusting relationship with an experienced person (mentor) that provides
inspiration and growth to another (mentee) and that works toward the common
good (1/5; 3 pm).§

§ The class agreed, in order to help focus our definition, that mentoring with negative outcomes would be exluded from the definition and referance to such situations would be done using "negative mentoring." Similarly, the class agreed to exclude single encounters between individuals that have a mentoring impact, focusing instead on relationships that endure through more than one encounter, and that reference to such encounters would be done using "mentoring moment."
