Robot Competition Pictures
The following pictures are all from a LEGO robot competition which was
held on the second wednesday of February of 1996 following a robotics
J-term class where 5 teams of 3 or 4 people attempted to build robots for
the purpose of moving pingpong balls. The completely autonomous robot
which had the fewest balls on its side at the end of 60 seconds won. So,
on to the pictures...

This is a picture of my
robot. The "combine" on the front gathers balls, siphons them into a
forklift type arm that lifts the balls into the "pitcher" that shoots
the balls fairly rapidy and actually quite far. Perhaps it could
find a job as an automatic ping pong ball server?

Another robot built by a team
of two.

This is a very interesting
robot with walls that lift and close capturing the balls inside it.

This robot is the one that
wone the competition. It is very well built and had some nice simple
programing. It used spinning rubber bands to suck the balls into its
belly and held them there.

This was one of the
funniest robots which attempted to thust spears at the enemy and plow
the balls arround.
