Forensics Team Enjoying Continued SuccessToday
The Gustavus forensics team has concluded a busy and successful first half of the season as it continues to assert itself as one of the top programs in the country.

Jodock to Administer Templeton Foundation GrantDr. Darrell Jodock, the Drell and Adeline Bernhardson Distinguished Professor of Religion at Gustavus Adolphus College, will help administer a $150,000 grant from the John Templeton Foundation’s Science for Ministry Initiative awarded to the Collegeville Institute for Ecumenical and Cultural Research.

Jens Brabbit Leads Nordic Ski Team At Weather Shortened U.S. National Cross Country Skiing ChampionshipsGustavus sophomore Jens Brabbit recorded an impressive 54th place finish in the 10k freestyle race (27:41) at the U.S. National Cross Country Skiing Championships being held in Anchorage, Alaska. In a field that contained nearly all of the finest amateur skiers in the U.S., Brabbit’s finish was the second highest among skiers from the Central Region to cross the finish line and the fifth highest among Division III competitors.
Kelly Chaudoin Finishes 40th At U.S. National Cross Country Skiing ChampionshipsGustavus senior Kelly Chaudoin posted an impressive 40th place finish in the 5k freestyle race (16:34) at the U.S. National Cross Country Skiing Championships being held in Anchorage, Alaska. In a field that contained nearly all of the finest amateur skiers in the U.S., Chaudoin’s finish was the fourth highest among skiers from the Central Region to cross the finish line and the second highest among Division III competitors.
Women’s Basketball Gets Back On Winning Track With Convincing 57-40 Win Over St. OlafThe Gustavus women’s baskeball team broke open a tight game with a 17-0 run to start the second half and claimed a convincing 57-40 win over St. Olaf in St. Peter on Wednesday night. The Gusties, who improve to 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the MIAC, were led by Molly Mathiowetz with 15 points.
The Gustavus men’s basketball team used a 16-3 run early in the second half to help the Gusties pick up an impressive 81-64 win over St. Olaf 81-64 in Northfield on Wednesday night. Head Coach Mark Hanson’s squad turned in a strong offensive performance, shooting 52.9 percent on 27-for-52 from the field. Gustavus, which reached the .500 mark at 5-5 overall and 4-1 in the MIAC, were led by Jesse Van Sickle with 16 points.
40 Years and Michael Johnson in ConcertMichael Johnson, the singer, song-writer, storyteller, and guitarist who has delighted audiences at Gustavus Adolphus College annually for forty years, returns to Björling Recital Hall for a 40th Anniversary Concert Celebration, Friday, December 12 at 8:00 p.m. This performance on the Gustavus campus is one of only two performances the national recording artist will present in Minnesota this season.
Director Gregory Aune and the St. Ansgar’s Men’s Chorus present their fall concert Sunday, November 23 at 3:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. Sunday’s concert is free and open to the public.
Fall Jazz Concert at Gustavus SaturdayThe jazz ensembles from the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College combine efforts on Saturday, November 22, to present a concert in Bjorling Recital Hall on the Gustavus campus. Under the direction of guest director Adam Rossmiller, the Adolphus Jazz Ensemble and the Gustavus Jazz Lab Band begin this free concert at 7:30 p.m.
The Gustavus Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Paul Hill, will presents its fall concert on Sunday, November 23, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The performance, held in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall, is free and open to the public.
