Recent News

  • I was appointed to the Editorial Board for the internationally peer-reviewed journal Metacognition and Learning. This journal addresses various components of metacognition, such as metacognitive awareness, experiences, knowledge, and executive skills. I am thrilled to join the Editorial Board of this prestigious journal!

  • I will be going up for tenure in the Fall of 2012. Please feel free to read the current draft of my tenure statement.

  • I was awarded the Presidential Faculty Student Collaboration grant for the Summer of 2011. This grant supported a collaborative research project with with one of our pre-service teachers, Alyssa Ringdal. We conducted a literature review on the topic of self-regulated learning and teacher education, which is currently being reviewed by a peer-reviewed international journal.

  • I had the opportunity to work with Brian Honkomp and Christian Gilbert, both of whom are Middle School Science/Geography teachers at Clearwater Middle School (Waconia, MN). They are on the cutting edge of integrating "Adventure Learning" in the classroom. Please visit their website (Go4theSummit) to learn about how these two teachers are providing students with authentic opportunities to explore real world-issues through hybrid distance education. Brian and I recently had a paper (Moos & Honkomp, 2011) published in Journal of Research on Technology in Education. This paper examines the effects of Adventure Learning on student motivation.
