Journal Summary Assignment:

I would like each of you to write four summaries of journal articles or chapters that you read related to some aspect of the psychology of music. Summaries should be one page in length. At the top of each summary, you should identify the article's author(s), year of publication, title, journal, volume, and page numbers. In the text of your summary you should describe the hypothesis or hypotheses which are tested in the article in one or two sentences. Next you should describe how the independent and dependent variables were operationally defined. Describe the any measures that were used and the central findings which are reported. If the source is not a traditional research report. Indicate how you think the material would be useful to individuals interested in music or musical behavior, e.g., it provides a critique of research methods or explains a useful theory. Give your opinion on the way in which the researcher(s) have set out to answer the question(s) they pose.
