An electronic portfolio is a collection of work that demonstrates a student's progress, effort, and achievement over the course of a semester. The electronic portfolio created in EDU 241 is an online portfolio for sharing a student's resumé, lesson plans, technology projects, and more. See below for some ePortfolios created in past EDU-241 classes. Please note that the guidelines have changed since these example ePortfolios were created. These examples are intended to provide EDU 241 students with a framework for the creation of their ePortfolios.

Example: Andrew Malo

Example: Ali Hoffman

Smartboards are used in many classrooms with the aim of providing interactive learning experiences that motivate students. The objective of this activity is for you to become familiar with the smartboard's interface and explore how smartboards can effectively be used in the classroom. During one of the last two classes, you will present a short activity (15 - 20 minutes) that incorporates the smartboard. This presentation, which can be completed with one of your classmates, should include content from your major/core concentration. The smartboard will be introduced in the beginning of the semester. Following this introduction, it will be your responsibility to continue to familiarize yourself with smartboard outside of EDU 241 classtime. The smartboard overview and guide is located in the Mattson Hall comptuer lab.

Reaction Papers

Short reaction papers will be assigned throughout the semester (see syllabus for assigned dates). These papers provide students with an opportunity demonstrate comprehension of the assigned readings and videos, which will be discussed in class. Additionally, the papers are designed to promote reflective thinking.

Class Participation and Engagement

Students will have the opportunity to apply discussion topics and utilize the latest technology software programs in class.  Active participation contributes to your own learning and also to learning of others. It is expected that you enable one another to engage these concepts and encourage others to think about our thinking. In order to meet these expectations, consider the following questions: Am I prepared for class? Do I engage the homework and thoughtfully respond to questions? Do I demonstrate signs of listening carefully? Do I ask questions about the concepts?Am I on-task during class worktime? Do I take the risk of engaging in dialogue by asking questions when confused and demonstrate a willingness to reformulate my perspective?Class participation and engagement in these application opportunities will be evaluated with a rubric (click HERE to view this rubric).
